A chess computer is a traditional board game with real chess pieces and electronic circuits which respond to the position of the pieces on the board.
An important benefit is that you can play a game against the computer when a human opponent is not available. You can do this at any time, and even switch off and start again later, because the computer will remember exactly the position in the game even when switched off.
If you are a beginner, Excalibur's advanced Teach Mode will help you learn about the game, it’s pieces and how they move.
Finally, don't think that you have no chance against the computer. All Excalibur computerized chess sets have many levels of difficulty. Even our most advanced model will give the absolute beginner a good chance of a win on the lower levels. As you improve and want a more challenging game, you simply increase the level of difficulty
