Splice da Amazonia S/A was the manufacturer of the Byte Industria Brasileira branded electronic chess computer. Splice was located in the production area of Manaus, Brazil called Zona Franca de Manaus.  Manaus is located right in the middle of the Amazon jungle where the Amazon river merges with the black watered Rio Negro and where believe it or not pink Dolphins occasionally leap out of the water to surprise you and make you question your own eyesight and faculties.  “What! did I just see a pink Dolphin in a black colored river a thousand miles away from an Ocean?”.  I guess I’ll be seing pixies and fairies next.  This is all true I promise!
