Manfred Hegener (formerly co-owner of Mephisto) and Ossie Weiner formed the German company Millennium 2000 GMBH Hegener & Weiner in 1997.

Ossie Weiner founded the first German Chess School in 1977 and is also a well known author of chess books.

Millennium specializes in electronic toys which includes chess computers made for the masses which is a similar concept to Excalibur Electronics. They also have another division in their company that sells healthcare products.

The first computer produced by Millennium 2000 was the Millennium Schachpartner 2000 which was launched in 1998.
