FIDELITY MACH III finished in second place behind Mephisto Almeria in the 1988 World Microcomputer Championship that was held in Almeria, Spain.

Shortly after this tournament, Fidelity launched the Mach III Master. Fidelity claimed the Master title for the Mach III after the program had successfully competed in 48 Tournaments and obtained in accordance to the U.S. Chess Federation the CHESS MASTER title with a rating of 2265.

The MACH III MASTER has an interesting active style of chess and even today will be sure to provide entertainment and fear to its human Master opponents.
