A Mephisto Modular Chess Board from 1983!
ESB 3000 is an Auto Sensory Modular Board which was launched in 1983 which was approximately 6 months after the full sized wooden board ESB 6000 came to the market.
The concept’s intent was to add future chess modules to the boards, but because of the future improved and more flexible modular chess board series that Mephisto developed, the ESB series was not expanded upon.
The chess computer modules that can be used on the ESB 3000 board are Mephisto II and Mephisto III. These were connected to the board via the serial cable that is attached to the ESB 3000 chessboard.
There is no power connection for this chess board. The power to run the board comes via the serial cable from the chess computer.
