Written by Martin P. Briant, COLOSSUS CHESS 4.0 was published in 1985. The game look and feel remains the same as its predecessor COLOSSUS 2.0, but the chess engine is much improved and plays a lot stronger. There are plenty of configuration options in this game. COLOSSUS 4.0 is probably the strongest chess program ever published for the Commodore 64/128. Most chess players will find COLOSSUS CHESS 4.0 a tough and challenging opponent.
The PC direction keys can be used to play COLOSSUS CHESS 4.0. SHIFT + T = Level Mode, there are 6 Modes. Mode 2 = Time per move mode. Mode 1 = Tournament Mode. Holding down the SHIFT key and pressing the letter O, orientates the chess board. SHIFT plus letter N = New Game. Pressing SPACE BAR at any time takes you to the Analysis Screen.
You can find OPTIONS by pressing all the keys and making a note of the functions. Most of the functions are hidden therefore also try to press all the keys while holding down the TAB (= RESTORE key on a Commodore 64/128) key, the CONTROL key or the SHIFT key.
